Poultry from Challans, the red label, origin: La Vendee

 

A Unique Region

A land of many contrasts and passions, this region is the meeting point between the sky and sea. Benefitting from a very mild climate all year round and a very acidic earth, in which grows an abundance of rich grass with a taste of the seaside.  Challans is the paradise of  poultry farming and nature.

King of the fields, the black chicken of Challans is one of dishes not to be missed in our restaurants!

After cooking, it reveals a fine taste which is incomparable, under a very delicate and crusty skin. Specially selected from an old black origin from the Vendee,  it is reared over 81 days in order to thoroughly develop its thighs and to  strengthen its flesh.

La canette fermiére: (young female duck)

Adored by chefs, la canette de Challans comes from La Vendee. On its wild side- its meat is thick and tasty,  it attracts the top chefs. Roasted on its breast, the meat can also be enjoyed quick pan-fried and rare.

The pintade: an exceptional taste....

The farmers’ pintade from Challans  is a rustic stock which comes from Central Africa. It is reared in open air over a period of more than 13 weeks. It is recognised by its delicate meat thanks to its diet which is exclusively vegetable and natural.

For over 100 years, the breaders have respected the nature of each individual chicken, in order to offer the most flavoursome poultry with a good taste of the open fields.

Since forever, this exceptional poultry has been reared on grassy land, which benefits from a rich diet of cereals enriched with vitamins and mineral.  They also  have a longer rearing period compared to other ‘standard’ poultry.
