The farmers’ poultry of Gers comes from very rustic stock, of slow growth - which promotes a flavour and firmness of meat which is much sought after. The number of chickens in each breeding batch is limited and from the youngest age they are given access to grassy land or woods. The length of rearing of this poultry is superior to that of standard poultry and the diet is mostly made up of cereals, vitamins and minerals.
