As with mushrooms, the flora and fawna play a particular role in the growth of truffles. The truffle cannot accomplish its complete cycle, without the help of a host plant like thyme, lavender or even oak. It is for this reason that truffles are found in the south of France and in particular in the regions of Perigord, Provence and Bourgogne.
